At the DGSKA conference with this year’s theme “Un/Commoning Anthropology” in Cologne, nearly 700 social and cultural anthropologists will come together to engage in a wide-ranging interdisciplinary exchange. Through presentations, discussions, workshops, and experimental lab formats, participants will explore new perspectives and critical approaches within contemporary anthropology. Plenary sessions with invited guests will set key thematic impulses and foster debate on current challenges and transformations in the field.
In addition to the academic programme, highlights will include the exhibition “Out of Focus” and a conference celebration featuring Chef Kabui at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum. By combining scholarly dialogue with creative and social formats, the conference will create a dynamic space for collaboration, reflection, and new ideas within the anthropological community.
Dr. Piotr Goldstein will present his paper “Everyday Activism in the Border Zone: Findings from a collaborative and visual project with transborder workers and recent migrants to Berlin and Brandenburg”.
