At a two-day workshop on multimodal research and publishing, scholars will come together to explore emerging approaches that go beyond text-based academic work. As multimodal methods gain increasing relevance, the workshop will address both the opportunities and challenges of integrating visual, audio, and other non-textual formats into research and publication practices. Particular attention will be paid to questions of academic recognition, citation, and the status of multimodal outputs within scholarly communities.
Organised by the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS), the event will bring together researchers working on topics such as migration, transborder labour, and activism, with a regional focus on Central and South-Eastern Europe as well as beyond. Alongside the core workshop, dedicated training sessions will support early career researchers in developing their first multimodal projects, fostering exchange, collaboration, and new perspectives on knowledge production.
