C1: Adaptation Strategies and Negotiation Processes – Theoretical and Empirical Approaches (Workshop together with C4)

The disintegration of the Soviet Union and the development of unresolved conflicts and de-facto states confronts us with a special kind of economic integration and disintegration. The de-facto states are following different paths in their economic development and external relations. In the workshop, we ask which transformations and continuities do economic exchange relationships and related distribution networks experience with regard to institutions (e.g. standards, trade agreements), functioning (e.g. organization of production chains) and everyday practices (e.g. labor mobility) in the context of non-recognized statehood. How can adaptation and negotiation processes in conflict situations be empirically recorded and with which concepts?
